John H. Connor, Jr., 95, of Allenstown, NH, died March 16, 2003, at St. Teresa Health Care Center in Manchester, NH
Born July 5, 1907 in Providence, RI, he was the son of John H. and Catherine (Grady) Connor.
Raised and educated in Smithfield, RI, he married Agnes L. Paulhus in August of 1931.
He worked with Providence Pipe & Sprinkler Co., and co-owned and operated Connor Brothers Dairy Farm in Smithfield with his brother, Leo, until World War II. They had retail milk routes throughout Providence and nearby communities. Later he worked with Lincoln & Lane Co. of Pawtucket as a refrigeration and air conditioning serviceman and subsequently as a sales engineer.
He moved to NH in 1958 and worked with NH York of Manchester, in design and sales of commercial heating and air conditioning systems until his retirement in 1972.
An avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, he was a founding member of the Smithfield Sportsman Club and served as an officer for many years. He was also an active gardener, golfer, and skier until his late 80's, and spent many hours with his family at his summer home on Squam Lake, in Center Harbor, NH.
He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes, in 1985, two grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Connor.
Family members include two sons, John H. Connor, III, of Allenstown, NH, and Eugene R. Connor of Amherst, NH; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2sisters, Kathleen Connor, and Mary (Donohue) Schlemmer, both of Smithfield, RI; a brother, Leo Connor of Bridport, VT.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Thursday March 20, 2003 in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford, NH.
Burial was in Floral Park Cemetery, Pittsfield, NH.
