John M. Crane

John M. Crane, 79, of Manchester, died March 28, 2025 after a sudden tragic accident.

Born in Baltimore, MD on June 1, 1945, he was the son of James and Hazel (Meadows) Crane. He graduated from the University of Maryland and New Hampshire College (now SNHU).

He served in the US Army for eight years predominantly stationed in Herzogenaurach and Augsburg Germany as part of the ASA. He fought valiantly from beer hall to beer hall.

Prior to retirement, John had worked as a mail handler for 35 years at the USPS and was a union steward.

John was an avid Maryland Terrapins sports fan. He loved cheering on the Orioles and Patriots as well. More than anything, he cherished the time watching his children and grandchildren compete in any sport.

He always had a great affection for his pets, especially his cats and dogs.

He is predeceased by his older brother Joseph Crane and his wife Ruth (Dobbins) Crane. They lived in Williamsburg, VA.

Family members include his wife of 55 years, Virginia L. (Payson) Crane of Manchester; his children, Christopher Crane and wife Marianne of Bellevue, NE, Victoria Faucher and husband Jonathan of Manchester, Stephanie Crane of Londonderry; his beloved grandchildren, Danielle, Emily, Bennett, Thomas, Nathan, Jacob and Melissa; two great-grandchildren, Lorelei and Lila.

The funeral service with military burial honors will take place on Friday, April 4th at 1 pm the chapel at Pine Grove Cemetery, Calef Road, Manchester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
