John F. Guevin

John R. Guevin, 46, of Washington, D.C., died of cancer, December 5, 2001.

He was born in Waterloo, Iowa, December 25, 1954, and was the son of Richard and Jacqueline (Malo) Guevin. He had been a resident of Washington for the past 20 years.

He earned a BA degree from St. Anselm College in 1976, and a Master's Degree from Harvard University in 1981.

Mr. Guevin was a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco from 1976 to 1979. He was an education program specialist in otaps at the Peace Corps, and did a third tour as Deputy Director in Tunisia. He also served as Director for Refugees in Somalia for the United Nations.

He was Dean of Education at Iberlingua Americana, Madrid, Spain from 1979 to 1980.

From 1996 to 2001, was a program analyst for Public Policy and Outreach in the Office of Air and Radiation at the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Family members include his mother, Jacqueline Guevin of Hampton; 2 brothers, Rev. Benedict Guevin, O.S.B., of St. Anselm Abbey, and Mark Guevin, of Goffstown; a sister, Robin Guevin of Atlanta, GA; a sister in-law, and a niece.

Calling hours were December 13, 2001 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated December 14, 2001 in St. Anselm Abbey Church. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
