John J. Hunt

John J. Hunt, 82, of Manchester, died May 5, 2009 after a sudden illness.

He was born in Manchester on April 11, 1927, the son of Roscoe and Fedelia (Lafrance) Hunt. He was educated in the local schools and was a graduate of St. Joseph High School.

He served in the US Army.

Prior to retirement, he had been employed by Manchester Sand & Gravel for many years. He had also worked for the local laborers' union and for the Manchester School of Technology for several years.

John was always full of energy and loved being with his friends and family. He enjoyed watching American Legion Baseball games and supporting the New York Yankees. He was very proud of his family and taught them to enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

He was a longtime communicant of the former St. Theresa Church and more recently became a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church.

He was predeceased by his wife Mary J. (Horne) Hunt in 2002 and his son Thomas Hunt in 2001.

Family members include two sons, John Hunt of Manchester and Michael Hunt of Sunnyvale, CA; three grandchildren, Cindy Dutton and her husband Patrick of New Boston, Shaun Hunt and his wife Gabriella of Alpharetta, GA, and Patrick Hunt of Manchester; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Dutton and Alexandrea Hunt; one brother, Roscoe Hunt of Florida; nephews, nieces, and cousins.

He was also predeceased by one brother Frank Hunt and one sister Ida Neve.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church on Saturday, May 9, 2009. Burial followed in Pine Grove Cemetery.
