John "Jack" J. Gilbert, 64, of Manchester, died May 24, 2016, at his residence of a broken heart.
He was born in Manchester on July 10, 1951 to James and Rita (Carroll) Gilbert. Jack was educated in Manchester and attended Central High School. He worked for many years in construction and later as a security guard before retiring in 1996.
Jack enjoyed time spent with family and close friends and will be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit, laughter, love of music and stubbornness. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving, protective father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Janet L. (Rondeau) Gilbert in March; son Joseph M. Gilbert; his parents, one brother and one nephew.
The family includes his two daughters, JoAnn Smith and her husband Jeffrey, and Jocelyn Mahoney and her husband Sean, all of Manchester; three grandchildren, Justin Smith, Janelle Smith, and Jeffrey Smith-Demers; two sisters; two brothers; and several cousins, nieces and nephews
