John P. Mercier, 64, of Wells, ME died May 21, 2018 at his residence after a period of declining health. He was born in Los Angeles, CA on August 21, 1953, the son of Norbert Mercier and Muriel (Pichette) Luis. He resided most of his life in the Manchester, NH area and Wells, ME.
At a young age, John worked as a Manchester firefighter. Upon early retirement due to disability, he returned to the Wells / Ogunquit area where he had vacationed as a child. He spent much of his time enjoying the beach and teaching martial arts, as well as working as a security guard. John was an avid historian and enjoyed learning the history of the NH mills and the Native Americans of New England.
Family members include his mother, Muriel Luis at Maple Leaf HealthCare Center in Manchester; his children, Noah and Joel Mercier of Manchester, Quinn Mercier of Auburn, NH; his former wife, Connie Mercier of Auburn; his aunts, Madeleine Deshaies of Litchfield, NH and Claire Dorval of Bedford, NH; and many cousins in both NH and ME. He was predeceased by his father and aunts, Lorraine Plourde of Sunland, CA and Sr. Vivian Pichette of Sisters of Holy Cross in Manchester, NH.
