Born on August 31, 1923 in Malden, MA, he was the son of Daniel and Bridget (O'Connor) Morley. He was a graduate of Malden Catholic School and during World War II, served in the US Army.
Upon returning from World War II he was employed at Unisys. While at Unisys he was at the forefront of the evolution of today's modern computing systems. His understanding of computers in those early days was astounding.
John loved to watch sports on tv, especially football, baseball and golf. He was an avid reader and enjoyed keeping active and fit. He was a "jack of all trades", enjoyed tinkering on all types of projects around the house and fixing his cars. Whether it be a construction project or repairing an electrical device, there was nothing that he couldn't fix. More so, he will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Dorothy F. (Murphy) Morley, in 1999.
Family members include three daughters, Patricia Cook and husband David of Manchester, Debra Duffy and husband Kevin of Bedford, and Cathy Hayward and husband Sean of Roswell, GA; three sons, John Morley and wife Shawna of Bedford, Robert Morley and wife Mary of Monrovia, MD and Michael Morley of Manchester; five grandchildren, Tiffany Mitchell, Sean & Matthew Duffy, and Morgan & Colin Hayward; one sister, Ann Morley of Naples, FL; two brothers, Peter Morley of MA, and Robert Morley of MA; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by both of his parents; two sisters, Mary Morley and Janet Guerin; and two brothers, Donald and William Morley.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Sacred Heart Church, 265 S. Main St., Manchester. Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford, NH 03110. Memorial donations may be made to: American Heart Assoc., 2 Wall St., Manchester, NH 03101.
