John E. Roukey

March 19, 1925 — May 29, 2005

John "Jack" E. Roukey, 80, of Manchester, died May 29, 2005, after a period of declining health, surrounded by his family, at the Community Health Hospice Center in Merrimack.

Born in Manchester on March 19, 1925, he was the son of Ellsworth and Veronica(Burns) Roukey. He was a lifelong member of St. Raphael Parish and a graduate of Manchester High School West class of 1943.

Jack entered the Marines Corps following graduation, and served for five years. He later worked as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service retiring after 33 years. He was a member of the Intervale Country Club, and a past commander of the Henry J. Sweeney Post #2. He and his dad were the first father and son to serve as commanders of the Post. Jack was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood.

He was truly a gentle man who adored his grand daughter. He will be greatly missed.

Family members include his wife of fifty years, Pauline (Solomon )Roukey, of Manchester; a son John E. Roukey Jr. and his wife Megan (Houghton) Roukey, of Manchester; his granddaughter, Mary Kate Roukey, of Manchester; several nieces, nephews, and cousin.

He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Joseph and Alfred"BuddY" Roukey.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday June 2, 2005 in St. Raphael Church, 103 Walker St. Manchester.

Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery,448 Donald St. Bedford NH.
