July 6, 1935 — November 9, 2010

John L. Stancik, 75, of Manchester died November 9, 2010 at Elliot Hospital after a sudden illness.

He was born in Nashua on July 6, 1935 to John and Flora (Vantine) Stancik.

He graduated from Nashua High School and later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He attended California State University at Chico and earned a master's degree in mathematics from the University of New Hampshire. As an undergraduate, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated cum laude.

He was a graduate assistant and taught calculus, set theory logic and probability at UNH Merrimack Valley Branch.

He worked at Sanders Associates, Sprague Electric, Air Force Cambridge Research Labs, and retired from Kollsman Instruments in Merrimack.

IN HIS LIFE: At Air Force Cambridge Labs he was part of a unique team that studied orbit determination systems. The team's tasks involved math analysis and plotting techniques used for rocket trajectory information and polar projections of land mass outlines.

He enjoyed being around water and spent many winters in Florida and Anguilla in the Carribean where he made many friends. Always an enthusiastic conversationalist, he will be sorely missed.

He leaves his wife of 36 years, Patricia (Bolduc) Stancik of Manchester; a sister in law, Florence Allen of North Conway; and a brother in law, Robert Jamison of Riley, ME.

SERVICES: There are no services. Mr. Stancik's body was donated to Dartmouth Medical School and burial will be at a later date in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.
