He had been a parishioner of St. Raphael Parish.
Jack grew up in Brooklyn, NY and later moved to Lowell MA. He enlisted in the United States Army at the time of World War II. Five years later he received his honorable discharge, and then joined the National Guard where he served for 23 year. Following his discharge he moved to Manchester and began his working career. His first job was as a sign painter, and later at the former Auto Electric. From 1966 until his retirement he worked as an office manager at Sanders Associates.
Jack was a member, and organizer of the honor guard at the Henry J. Sweeney Post #2. He will be remembered as an outgoing, extremely organized, and generous to a fault person. He was a solid Red sox fan, and enjoyed all New England sports. Over the years when he could, he enjoyed a game of golf.
He will be remembered as a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather.
Family members include his wife of fifty-seven years, Evelyn (Keller) Whitehead, of Manchester; 2 sons, Keith Whitehead, of Manchester, Scott Whitehead, of Milford; 3 grandchildren, Lindsey, Samuel, Joey; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at St. Raphael Church, 103 Walker St. Manchester.
Burial will be at NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, at the convenience of the family.
