Jon Gibson Pounds was born September 28, 1935 to Willy Biggs (Bill) Pounds and Nell Rose (Gibson) Pounds. He peacefully passed on November 22, 2023. He was married to Jacqueline ‘Jaci’ (Dewey) for 67 years who passed a mere two months ago. They were a team in life and are a team in death. He is survived by his 4 children: Ted (wife Patty), Janet Maguire (husband Dan), Doug (wife Jacki) and Brad (wife Cheryl) who will miss him greatly. He has 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his older brother William (Bill Jr.) Pounds and his niece Mary Priscilla Hull.
Jon was born in Akron, Ohio, the 2nd of two children. He graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Akron in Ohio. He acquired his MS in Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. His career started at Honeywell Corporation which brought him from Ohio to Philadelphia, PA and then to Framingham, Massachusetts where he participated in the growth of the computer industry. He and Jaci raised their 4 kids in Holliston, Massachusetts. Jon transferred to Northrop Corporation in Norwood, Mass where he led the Precision Products Division until 1992 when he retired. He and Jaci then built their dream house overlooking the White Mountains in Center Harbor, NH where they lived out their golden years until health issues necessitated moving to Litchfield, NH. Jon’s strong love and commitment towards Jaci in her declining years with dementia was a great inspiration to his children.
Jon had many joys and interests in life. In 1977 Jon and Jaci purchased a camp on Frye Island in Sebago Lake in Maine which became the centerpiece of summer life for the whole family and still is today. Golf was a passion and he looked forward every year to getting out on the course. Jon had a great love of the outdoors. He helped lead a Boy Scout troop in Holliston and participated in many back packing trips with the scouts in the White Mountains. Jon was very proud of completing the hikes for all 48 Four Thousand Footer Mountains in New Hampshire.
Jon kept a positive attitude towards life and work that has inspired all 4 of his children. He and Mom instilled in each of us the values of honesty and integrity, a strong work ethic, common sense, and respect for others. We appreciate the foundation he laid for future generations of the Pounds family.
