Joseph B. Desrochers, 89, of 233 Tarrytown Rd., Manchester, died October 6, 2004, at Catholic Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Born in Manchester, May 1, 1915, he was the son of Joseph A. and Marie (St. Hilaire) Desrochers. He moved to Mount Dora, Fl in 1964 and returned to Manchester in 1984.
He served 18 years in the National Guard as a member of the 172nd filed artillery. During that time he was an amateur boxer.
Mr. Desrochers worked as a supervisor in the baking industry for many years. For 5 years he owned and operated Grenier Heights Clover Farm Store. While living in Florida he was a member of the Mount Dora Police and Fire Departments for 10 years.
He was a member and past president of the NH Independent Grocers Association, a third degree member of the Knights of Columbus, and for 25 years a member of the Lions Club International.
Family members include his wife of 70 years, Germaine (Guilmette) Desrochers of Manchester; two sons, Ronald J. Desrochers of Manchester, and Robert J. Desrochers of Goffstown; a daughter, Madeleine Turcotte of Goffstown; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Roland Desrochers, and a grandson, Daniel R. Desrochers.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday October 9, 2004 at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Encryptment was in Mount Calvary Mausoleum.
