Joseph “Gerry” Bourbeau, 90, formerly of Bedford and Manchester, died April 14, 2025 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, after a period of declining health.

He was born in Manchester on December 3, 1934, to Eugene and Leona (Lemay) Bourbeau. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1955 and was a member of the Naval Reserve’s Construction Battalion, better known as the “Seabees” from 1955-1986. During that time, he achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer BUC (Builder Constructionman).

Gerry was a skilled carpenter who worked with Carbo Construction and later HEB, Inc., owned by his late brother Henry, from 1970-1981. For the last 24 years of his career, he worked at the Hampshire Plaza for Spaulding & Slye, Inc. In retirement, he worked at Easterseals NH bringing his skills as a carpenter to a variety of projects and the “Can Do” spirit of the Seabees.

He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Tuesday bowling league at King Bowling Lanes in Manchester. He also enjoyed military history, jazz music, traveling, animals and making custom furniture.

He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Theresa (Bouchard) Bourbeau in 2022 and two siblings, Henry Bourbeau and Marcelle Theos.

Gerry is survived by four children, Denise Krol and her fiancé, Jack Packard, of Manchester, Paul Bourbeau and his wife, Sheila, of Sevierville, TN, Suzanne Chappell and her husband, John, of Chester and Joanne Bourbeau and her husband, George Adair, of Whitingham, VT; seven grandchildren, Sean Bourbeau and his wife, Johanna, Michael Bourbeau and his wife, Erin, Amy Krol, Timothy Krol, Elise Chappell, Emma Chappell and Caden Adair; three great grandchildren, Evelyn Bourbeau, Jack Bourbeau and Maisie Bourbeau; a sister, Jeannette Clement and nieces and nephews..

SERVICES: Calling hours are on Wednesday (4/23) from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (4/24) at 11 a.m. at St. Catherine Church, Webster Street, Manchester. Committal prayers will follow at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway in Boscawen.
