Administration Medical Center in Manchester after a period of declining health surrounded by his family.
He was born in Chelsea MA on December 16, 1930 to Charles F. and Rose Marie (Capistran) Gillooly. He was educated in local schools then enlisted in the US Air Force in January 1950.
Joe enjoyed traveling, hunting and spending time with his family, including fishing with his sons. He was an avid Red Sox fan.
Family members include his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary (Doherty) Gillooly of Goffstown, NH; two sons, Joseph Gillooly Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of Portland ME and Robert Gillooly and his wife, Debbie, of Georgetown, Texas; three grandchildren, Corey, Michael, Joshua and four great-grandchildren, Emily, Thomas, Brianna, and Teagan. He was the last surviving member of a large family.
The family would like to send a special thank you to all the personnel at the Manchester VA Medical Center for their dedication in helping them through this difficult time.
A service of remembrance took place on Monday, March 18, 2013 in Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the VA Medical Center Volunteer Services, c/o VA Medical Center, 718 Smyth Rd., Manchester, NH 03104.
