Joseph P. Leonard Jr., 69, of Manchester, died November 1, 2004 at the Catholic Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born in Manchester on April 6, 1935, the son of Joseph P. and Jennie (Kruczek) Leonard. He was educated in the local school system and was a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School.

Until his retirement, he had been an iron worker with Local 474.

He had volunteered much of his time to Bedford Little League and enjoyed fishing. He was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood.

He was pre-deceased by his sister Pat Cavanaugh in March of this year.

Members of his family include his wife of 49 years, Janice (Zawisza) Leonard of Manchester; 4 sons, Mark Leonard of Auburn, Tim Leonard of Port Charlotte, FL, Jack Leonard of Port Charlotte, FL, and Joseph P. Leonard III of Manchester; 3 daughters, Maura Sutherland of Alaska, Jill Lombardo of Loudon, and Lisa Migneault of Manchester; 14 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Roger Leonard of Walton Beach, FL and Stanley Leonard of Ashland, PA; several nephews and nieces.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Raphael Church on Friday November 5, 2004. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford.
