Joseph G. Maltais, 84, of Manchester died November 12, 2002 at Catholic Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Manchester on December 15, 1917, he was the son of Georges and Leda (Larouche) Maltais. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

He graduated from Boston College and attended LaSalette Seminary.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Mr. Maltais was Register of Deeds in Manchester for many years. He was also well known for having been the host of his own french language radio program on Manchester AM radio for over 40 years.

The family includes his wife of 54 years, Lillian (Roy) Maltais of Manchester; a daughter, Suzanne M. Karatzas of Nahant, MA; five sons, Philippe J.G. Maltais of Seabrook, Denis J. Maltais of Manchester, Ronald E. Maltais of Montezuma, NM, John R. Maltais of Framingham, MA and Mark A. Maltais of New York, NY; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Maurice F. Maltais of Hampton and Florida; nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday November 15, 2002 in St. George Church, corner of Pine and Orange streets, Manchester. Burial was in New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.

Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Department of NH, 329 Mast Rd., Goffstown 03045.
