Manchester, NH: Joseph Robert Monty 92, died Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Catholic Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 23, 1931 in Manchester, he was the son to the late Adolphe and Bertha (Laventure) Monty. He attended local schools, and helped care for the family farm in Andover, Massachusetts. He went on to join the United States Army and served his country as a paratrooper during the Korean War. Joseph worked in the Chicopee Mills for many years before starting his career in a Auto body.
He was a lifelong, fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus where he was past Grand Knight and past treasurer. He was also an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church, serving as a cantor and in the church choir.
Joseph had a passion for music and loved to sing and play the harmonica, always adding to his harmonica collection along the way. He was an avid cribbage player, and enjoyed pool and tending to his garden. He will be deeply missed.
Joseph is survived by his three children, Linda Racette & her husband, Michael, Kenneth Monty, and Jennifer Young, all of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews. He was recently predeceased by his wife, Jeanne G. (Morency) Monty on May 25th of this year. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Raymond, Richard, Leo, George, Doris, Pauline, Rita and Florence.
SERVICES: A visitation for Joseph will be Saturday July 15th from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Elm St., Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial there at 10:30 am. Committal will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
