Joseph K. Perkins

Joseph K. Perkins, 86, of Goffstown died December 16, 2003 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home, Goffstown.

Born in Gadsden, AL on June 10, 1917, he was the son of Charles and Edith (Beggs) Perkins. He grew up in Alabama, then later lived in New Hampshire in Nashua, Amherst and Manchester. He also lived in Atlanta, GA and Homossasa, FL

He graduated from Auburn University in Auburn, AL in 1940 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. During World War II he served as an officer in the U.S. Army with the 321st Battalion of the 101st Airborne Division.

Mr. Perkins worked in sales and consulting with Improved Machinery/ Ingersoll-Rand in Nashua for many years. He held numerous patents and was a major contributor to articles and books about the pulp and paper industry. In addition he was a TAPPI Fellow.

He was married to Helen (Barnard) Perkins who died in 1997.

The family includes four children, Roberta L. Ulricson of Landaff and Virginia M. Chandler, Susan K. Perkins and C. Kyle Perkins all of Manchester; three grandsons and two great grandchildren.

Burial of cremated remains was in Meadowview Cemetery, Amherst.

Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester assisted the family with arrangements.
