Joyce P. Matott, 68, of Manchester, died December 29, 2021, at her residence, after a longtime battle with Alzheimer's.
Born in Manchester NH on January 18, 1953, she was the daughter of James H. Barry and Leslie Walker. Joyce was educated in Manchester and was a graduate of West High School, Class of 1971. She also earned her Associates Degree in business from Hesser College. She worked in banking for many years and finished her banking career as Systems VP of Amoskeag Bank in 1988. It was then that she joined her future husband, and began running Sendaishi Pet Resort.
Joyce and her husband Bill were breeders of Sendaishi Alaskan Malamutes and she later went on to competitively show their dogs. They were both lifetime members of the Alaskan Malamute Club of America and their dogs were involved in Disney film in 1994 called Iron Will. Their Sendaishi Malamutes also won Best of Breed at the Prestigious National Specialty in 1985 and 1994.
Joyce was the first person in the state of NH to be certified in canine rehabilitation as well. She volunteered at the Animal Rescue League in Goffstown for many years where she also served as Treasurer. She also served on Gov. John Lynch's Humane Treatment of Animal Commission and was a founding member and a Secretary of New Hampshire Mushers Association.
Joyce was very athletic and loved being outdoors. She enjoyed kayaking and dog sledding and time spent in her and Bill's summer home in Northern NH. She and her husband were also avid classic car collectors. Joyce was very motivated and driven and extremely accomplished. Above all else, she will be remembered as a loving wife and friend.
Joyce is survived by lifelong partner of 46 years who was her husband for 33 years, William F. Matott of Manchester; and few cousins. She was predeceased by her parents.
Due to the restrictions of Covid-19, there are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
