Judith C. Patterson

She was born Judith Bachelder Crowell in Natick, MA on October 19, 1930 to Joseph and Olive (Bachelder) Crowell.

She grew up on a farm in Chelsea VT and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1948. She attended Lyndon College and Keene State College graduating with a Bachelors of Education degree. She taught elementary education, much of it in mathematics, for over 20 years in Vermont and New Hampshire.

She was married to the late Leonard Cross until 1963 and remarried in 1970 to the late Raymond Patterson. Judy loved the outdoors, horses, and the Southwest. Her hobbies included bird watching, collecting coins and researching her family's genealogy.

Judy lived in the Claremont area with family and friends for the last 52 years. She enjoyed an independent and active lifestyle, right up until the moment of her passing, at her cabin in the woods at Long Pond in East Lempster, NH.

Her surviving family includes her three sons; Michael Cross and his wife Cynthia of Claremont, NH, Bruce Cross of San Diego, CA, and Timothy Cross and his wife Tammi of Claremont, NH; her daughter, Judith Rabin and her husband Neil of Charleston, SC; two daughters in-law, Marylyn Coletti of San Diego, CA and Donna McNeil of Claremont, NH; eight grandchildren include Michael and Matthew Cross, Karalani Cross, Anthony and Andrew Cross, Sara Garland, and Benjamin, Noah and Samuel Rabin; four great-grandchildren, Elisabeth Garland, McKenna and Sierra Cross, Sophie Cross; her sister, Jean C. Pett of Pawleys Island, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

A gathering to honor her memory and spread her ashes on Long Pond will be held in the summer.
