He was born in Manchester on November 11, 1923, the son of Joseph H. and Marie-Anne (St. Pierre) Bernier. He was educated in the local school system and graduated from Manchester High School West in 1942. He earned his accounting degree from the NH School of Accounting and Finance in 1948.
During WWII, he served as a master sergeant in the US Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service.
Prior to his retirement in 1986, he had been employed as an accountant with Bourque Motor Sales for 15 years. Previously, he had worked as an accountant, controller and office manager with Ferretti Enterprises and Northeastern Engineering.
Julien was a 50 year member of the Institute of Management Accountants and also a member of the American Legion Sweeney Post #2.
He is survived by numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother Fernand Bernier and sister Bertha Bernier.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Sacred Heart Church, 223 S. Main St, Manchester. Burial followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Patient's Activities Account at Villa Crest Nursing Home, 1276 Hanover St, Manchester, NH 03104.
