Julien A. "Skip" Marchand, 88, of Manchester, died June 3, 2015 at Hillsborough County Nursing Home after struggling with Alzheimer's Disease. His loving family was at his side.
He was born in Manchester on November 18, 1926 to Alfred and Yvonne (Simoneau) Marchand. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy.
Julien worked at Lyons Iron Works and Genest Bakery, both in Manchester, for many years. He enjoyed anything made of steel and would build his own steel creations that were well built and long lasting. He played hockey with the "Old Timers" and was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins.
He also enjoyed moped rides, music, dancing and telling jokes. Those who knew him knew of "The Sfyze".
He was predeceased by a son, Richard "Curly" Marchand in 1975 and three siblings, Cecile Bergeron, Lucille Morier and Arthur Marchand.
The family includes his wife of 65 years, Doris (Manseau) Marchand of Manchester; two children, Denise T. Marchand of Bedford and Daniel H. Marchand and his wife, Patty, of Manchester; two grandsons, Cody Marchand and Nathan Marchand; a brother, Roland Marchand and his wife, Rita, of Manchester; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Hillsborough County Nursing Home and Home Health and Hospice for the special care they provided to Skip.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
