Karl D. Powers

December 16, 1953 — June 1, 2026

Manchester

Karl Dean Powers, 72, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, surrounded by the love and support of his family. He was born on December 16, 1953, in Hanover, NH, to the late Dorrance and Arliene Powers.

He enjoyed an adventurous childhood in Norwich, VT, where he grew up on the family homestead alongside his six siblings. Many of Karl’s fondest memories were made outdoors, spending time with family while sledding, skiing, fishing, hiking, and biking.

After graduating from Hanover High School, Karl embarked on a new adventure, moving to Connecticut to be closer to his sister, Jan, and her family. During this time, the ever-handy Karl took a job at a local garden center, where he met the love of his life, Lizabeth. After few years of dating, Karl and Liz moved to Manchester, NH, purchased what began as their starter home and became their forever home, and welcomed their daughters, Kristen and Laura.

Karl’s natural talent for working with his hands led him to discover his passion in the construction industry. He spent more than 35 years working for Mark Stebbins at ProCon. Karl became an invaluable member of the team, earning a reputation for his skill, dedication, and problem-solving abilities. To his family and friends, he was the ultimate handyman—there was truly nothing he couldn’t do.

Following retirement, Karl devoted his time to the people he loved most. He enjoyed taking bus trips with his wife, working on projects with family members, and creating special memories with his two grandsons. Karl also became famous for his homemade ice cream. No gathering was complete without him arriving with a tub to share, and his ice cream quickly became a family favorite.

Karl will be remembered for his steady presence, calming demeanor, generous spirit, and thoughtful fatherly advice. His love for his family, willingness to help others, and quiet strength touched countless lives. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Karl is survived by his beloved wife: Liz (Sullivan) Powers; his two daughters: Kristen Powers Jache and her husband Bruce, Laura Hunt and her husband Patrick; two brothers: Dale Powers, Timothy Powers and his wife Diana; his sister: Janice Foley; his two grandsons: Nathan and Landon Hunt; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his two brothers: Gary and Neil Powers; and his sister: Phyllis Wheeler.
