Katherine Jean Macneil, 37, of Lewes, DE and formerly of New Hampshire, passed away suddenly on the morning of April 28, 2021.
Katherine was born on August 29, 1983 in Melrose, MA, four short minutes after her twin sister, Shannon. She was the daughter of Richard M. and Susan L. (Nichols) Macneil. Katherine was known by her friends as "Katie", to her family she was affectionately "Katie-kins" and to her twin she will always be "Kit-Kat".
She grew up in Litchfield, NH and attended Alvirne High School. Following high school, she entered the workforce, holding supervisor and manager positions with several retail businesses.
Katie enjoyed being outdoors, going camping, fishing and to the beach. She loved making jewelry, beadwork and floral arrangements, which she did beautifully and with a keen eye for color. While she resided in Delaware in the last years of her life, New Hampshire was always home to her and she cherished her visits back home to see family and friends.
A lover of all music genres, she was particularly fond of the 80's and early 90's music of her youth, often taking the time to call her twin when a nostalgic hit was heard and challenging her to a lyric battle of Billy Joel's "We didn't start the fire". That score will forever tie them together, until they can meet again.
While Katie was a shining light, she still had her struggles that proved too great to overcome in this life. Her family is grateful that at last her troubled mind is at rest and pray that in the Great Beyond she will find the peace that was denied her on this Earth.
Katie leaves behind a son, Kasper J. Milton, her parents, Richard M. & Susan L. (Nichols) Macneil, her twin sister Shannon L. Peters, a brother Sean A. Macneil and sister Heather A. Ledoux, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
She was preceded in death and greeted on the other side by her aunt, Roberta J. Nichols, cousins Brianna M. Lacey and Aaron D. Macneil, as well as her paternal grandparents H. David & Phyllis M. (Campbell) Macneil and maternal grandparents Arthur B. & Elinor J. (Boyle) Nichols.
Visiting hours at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, corner of North St, Manchester, will be Friday from 4 to 7 pm. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Milford, MA at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to The Farnum Rehabilitation Center, 140 Queen City Ave, Manchester, NH 03103.
