Kathleen Mary Lorigan Cassano

Kathleen Mary Lorigan Cassano, age 80, of Bedford, passed away peacefully Friday, February 27, 2026, at her home after a period of declining health. She was the widow of Robert A. Cassano (2021).

She was born in Forest Hills, NY on August 28, 1945, daughter of the late James & Grace (Gibbons) Lorigan. She was raised in Malverne, Long Island, NY, and graduated from Valley Stream Central H.S., class of 1963. She was also a UNH graduate in 1967.

Kathy met her husband, Bob in college. They were married in Wilbraham, MA in 1967. She has lived in Bedford NH since 1973, previously residing in Malletts Bay VT, Salt Point, NY, Essex Junction VT, Underhill VT, and Derry NH.

Prior to her retirement, she worked at Morgan Press (AR & AP) for 14 yrs. She was also a Paraprofessional for 6 yrs at Lurgio Middle School, and a Substitute Teacher in the Bedford School District for 9 yrs.

Kathy also held many volunteer positions over the years, including Elliot Hospital Junior Associates for 2 years, and Bedford PTG where she also served as Treasurer for 4 years. In 1991 Kathy was elected to the Bedford School Board and served until 1994. A parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Parish since 1973, she was an active member of the Women's Guild since 2013, working on multiple committees. In 2016 she became a member and volunteer for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at UNH Manchester, where she enjoyed many classes and served on the Curriculum Committee, as a Class Assistant Coordinator, and a Class Assistant.

Kathy adored her beloved grandkids, spending time at the family cabin on Lake Champlain, annual summer vacations at Goose Rocks Beach, ME, and bonus European and Arizona travels. She was an animal lover and had many pets. She enjoyed reading, movies, word puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. She had a vast network of friends and loved socializing over bridge, mahjong, bowling, Mexican Train Dominos, and community events.

Kathy is survived by her daughter Suzanne Cassano (David Rewinkel) of Saco, ME; son J. Michael Cassano of Bedford, NH; grandson Finn Rewinkel; granddaughter Ella Rewinkel; brother Richard Lorigan (Sandra) of Rockport, MA; nephew Keith Lorigan (Tanya), of Jupiter, FL; and niece Kerri Lorigan (Greg Nadeau) of Somerville, MA; and an abundance of friends ranging near and far.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford, NH 03110.
