Kathleen A. Dunn

Northampton, MA

   Kathleen Ann (Spellman) Dunn, 79, of Northampton, MA, passed away on April 8, 2024 surrounded by family, at Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. 

   She was born in Pawtucket, RI, on November 8, 1944, to Edward and Ethel (Myshrall) Spellman. She had lived in Rhode Island, New York and Connecticut, however spent most of her life between Westford and Northampton, MA. 

   Kathy earned a bachelor’s degree from Smith College in Northampton, MA, in Government and Economics in 2005. She was proud to be a part of the Ada Comstock Scholars program for non-traditional aged students. 

   Kathy worked in human resources in the banking industry for over 25 years. In retirement, she spent a great deal of her time working at Yankee Candle in South Deerfield, MA.  She was an avid reader, enjoying exploring hidden gems and bookstores all over Massachusetts. She also loved tending to plants and had a beautiful garden at her townhouse in Northampton. 

   She was always up for an adventure, whether it was in museums, theaters, gardens, or shops. Kathy was known for her incredible kindness and selflessness.  She loved spending time surrounded by friends and family.  

   Kathy was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Peter Dunn, in 1994, and by a son, Stephen Dunn, in 2018. 

   She is survived by her son, Ryan Dunn, and his wife, Michelle, of Hollis, NH; four grandchildren, Madison Dunn, Emma Dunn, Payton Dunn, and Kendall Dunn; two siblings, Kenneth Spellman of Enfield, CT and Edwina D’Aiuto of Homosassa, FL; nephews and her sister-in-law, Kathleen Dunn “the 1st“ of West Greenwich, RI.

   “Grandma, we love you to the moon and back.” - Her Granddaughters 

   SERVICES: A private service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to St. Benedict Abbey and mailed to 252 Still River Rd., Still River, MA 01467. Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, in Manchester, NH, is assisting the family with arrangements.
