Kathleen L. Martel

September 29, 1942 — June 23, 2023

Manchester, NH

Kathleen L. (Remington) Martel, 80, of Manchester, died June 23, 2023, at Elliot Hospital after a brief period of declining health.

She was born in Manchester on September 29, 1942, to Harold and Mary (McLaughlin) Remington.  She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1960 and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

Kathleen worked at TD Bank for 25 years and retired as a loan officer.  In retirement, she worked for the Manchester School District as a lunch lady, referred to as “Nana” by countless children at Beech Street School and Northwest Elementary School until 2021.

Kathleen was happiest when she spent time with her family and friends, especially their yearly trips. She also enjoyed camping at Wadleigh Falls in Lee and ocean cruising with her friends. Kathleen volunteered with the Telephone Pioneers as “Petunia Periwinkle the Clown” and was an annual team member on Johnny’s Visionaries for the Boston Walk for Vision.

Despite her own struggles, Kathy's selflessness knew no bounds. Even in her final moments, she was thinking of others, making sure everyone around her was okay.

She was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, Albert “Charlie” Martel in 2020; two brothers, Arthur Remington and Michael Remington; two great grandchildren, Jaxton and Raelynn.

Kathleen is survived by two children and their spouses, Kevin M. Robichaud and Lisa and Karen L. Marquis and Michael, all of Weare; two step-children, Kevin Martel and partner Joyce Dionne of Chester and Kimberly St. Jean and husband Richard, of Manchester; many beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren; two devoted sisters, Dorothy Harrises and Winnie Soucy; and cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
