He was born in New Bedford, MA on March 13, 1938, the son of Kenneth F. and Helen (Dufficy) Ross. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division as well as the US Special Forces Unit as a Green Beret for 16 years, including two tours of duty in Vietnam.
He retired from the military after 24 years of service with the rank of 1st Sgt. In civilian life, he was employed by the USPS for over 20 years until his retirement in 2002.
He was predeceased by his first wife Renate Muller Ross after 31 years of marriage.
Members of his family include his wife Pauline Broadbent Ross of Hilton Head, SC; his sisters, Helen D'Alessandro of Scituate, MA, and Frances Ross of Walton Manor, FL; his children, Frances Ann Ross of Mashpee, MA, Michael Ross of Falmouth, MA, Marcus Ross of Sebastian, FL, and Sonja Ross of Manchester; eight grandchildren; a nieces and a nephew.
Graveside military burial honors were accorded on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen.
