Laurence "Larry" G. Wright, 73, of Hooksett passed away January 5, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Claremont on September 24, 1943, he was the son of I. Arthur Wright and Irene A. (LaPrelle) Wright. He attended Central High School in Manchester and went on to serve an apprenticeship in sheet metal with Granite State Sheet Metal in Candia earning his Journeyman certification and Master of Sheet Metal/HVAC license one year sooner than typical. Prior to his retirement in 2001, he worked for Granite State Sheet Metal and Northeastern Sheet Metal until his retirement. Retirement, however, couldn't keep a master of his craft down. He continued as Foreman of Maintenance for Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA until 2012.
But Larry's real love and gift to the world was his family. Coming together as high school sweethearts, he and his beloved wife of 52 years, Sophie (Abood) Wright of Hooksett, loved to travel to the Caribbean and spend as much time as possible on the New England coast. They built a loving family they both cherished and celebrated at every moment. Beyond Larry's beloved wife, his family includes four children, Mark A. Wright, his wife Paula, and their sons Michael and Matthew of Auburn, Lisa A. Wright and her sons Samuel and Zachary Boisse of Hooksett, Scott M. Wright, his wife Cherryl, and their daughter Abigail of Pennsylvania; and Elizabeth M. Wright of Hooksett; and one sister, Alice Amico and one brother, Edward Wright both of Manchester. He was predeceased by both parents; and two siblings, Steven Wright and Harriett Rouel, both of Manchester as well.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at St. Catherine of Siena Church, 225 Hemlock St., Manchester. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Lung Association of New Hampshire, 1800 Elm Street, Manchester, NH 03104.
