Laurette G. Gauthier, 86, of Manchester, died October 30, 2005, at the Elliot Hospital, following a period of declining health.
She was born in St. Epiphane, Que., August 7, 1919, and was a daughter of Albert and Claudia (Lafrance) Lagace. She lived in Berlin, NH for many years and had been a Manchester resident since 1970.
She was married to Leonard C. Gauthier, who died in 1996.
Family members include two daughters, Sr. Diane Gauthier of Bradford, VT., and Denyse Blandina of Manchester; two sons, Ronald L. Gauthier, of Florida, and Gerard A. Gauthier of Manchester; 7 grandchildren; one great grandchild; nieces and nephews.
Her entrepreneurial skills led her to open Laurette's Remnant Shop; a small home based business, which allowed her to continue to be present to her disabled husband and care for her children. Her customers, who came to shop for fabrics and notions also enjoyed her natural gift of listening and gentle understanding. In later years she was a bookkeeper for son's grocery store.
Laurette was a woman of deep faith and boundless love whose all-encompassing heart found no room for judgment. Her appreciation of simple things of life found joy in the beauty of nature and stories of her grandchildren and great grandson's antics. She was a woman who lived life fully, gratefully embracing every moment as a gift from God. All who met her came away with a sense of peace and total acceptance.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday November 4, 2005 at St. Catherine Church, Webster St., Manchester. Burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carmelite Sisters, 113 Upper Plain Rd., Bradford, VT 05033
