Lawrence E. Ierardi

Dr. Lawrence Earl Ierardi, PhD, 80, of Amherst, NH died December 25th, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Britain, CT on October 13, 1936, he was the son of Victor and Lucy (Aiello) Ierardi.
After Dr. Ierardi's honorable discharge from the US Army, he later earned his PhD in Education Law from the University of Connecticut in 1979.
Prior to retirement he served 37 years in Education as a teacher, Principal, Superintendent, Director and Consultant to the Connecticut State Dept. of Education.
Family members include his wife of 54 years, Josephine (Pagano) Ierardi of Amherst, NH, his son Peter L. Ierardi and wife Sandra of Amherst, NH, his daughter, LuAnn M. Lanzieri and husband Joseph of Enfield, CT and son Dean L. Ierardi and wife Julia of Burlington, MA; five grandchildren, Alexis, Ryan, Ryley, Nikolas and John; his sisters, Lorraine Higgins and Barbara LaRosa of Florida.
Dr. Ierardi passed peacefully with his family by his side giving him all the comfort he lovingly deserved. A truly special and gifted man, US Army veteran, past police officer and decorated educator, he gave hope to SO many.
Larry will be remembered as the man with the clever quip, easy to befriend and long on loyalty. He always exhibited good Christian values. A beloved husband, father and grandfather he prized education. A hardworking man who loved hunting and target shooting. Larry was a competitive marksman for many years in Connecticut.
Larry always loved telling and retelling stories of things and events that happened to him. At St. Bernard's Parish in Rockville, CT, Larry and Jo taught confirmation students for many years. The teens loved to listen to him tell life lessons. Larry was instrumental in touching the hearts of everyone he knew.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, January 2, 2017 in Sacred Heart Church, So. Main St, Manchester, NH. Urn burial will be at a later date in St. Bernard Cemetery, Rockville, CT.
Donations may be made in his memory to Boston Children's Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave, Boston, MA 02115, or to Connecticut Children's Hospital, 282 Washington St, Hartford, CT 06106.
