Lawrence "Larry" Poitras, 81, of Litchfield, died July 22, 2021 at his home after a period of declining health, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Waterbury, CT on September 10, 1939 to Lawrence and Docia (Lafreniere) Poitras. He lived in Litchfield for many years.
During the Vietnam era he served in the U.S. Navy.
Larry worked at Sanders Associates and Lyons Associates for many years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Intervale Country Club, where he shot a hole-in-one. He enjoyed time spent with his family, especially attending his grandchildren's sporting events.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Diane Burnes.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Benita (Boisvert) Poitras of Litchfield; two sons, Scott Poitras and his wife, Tricia, of Manchester and Alan Poitras and his wife, Tammy, of Dunbarton; four grandchildren, Haley, Jake, Caly and Lexi; two brothers, Raymond Poitras and his wife, Rachel, of Litchfield and Robert Poitras of Conway, SC; and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Home Health Care and the Litchfield Fire Department for the special care they provided to Larry.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 9 St. Francis Way, Litchfield. Committal prayers will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
