Lea H. Gilon, 88, passed away January 10th, 2022 in Manchester after a period of declining health.
Lea was born and raised in France. She met her husband Arie Gilon there while he was serving in the US Army and moved with him to New York in the early 1950s. They enjoyed many years together.
Lea valued education and pursued her doctorate in French Literature at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She became a professor alongside her husband at New York University and taught there until retirement.
Lea loved traveling the world including regular visits to family in France. She met many friends on her travels and shared stories of her adventures with her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, tending her flower garden and sitting on the screened porch watching the birds visit. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Lea was predeceased by her husband Arie. She is survived by her son Michael Gilon & his wife Jane, her grandsons Daniel and David Gilon, her brother Daniel Huberman of France, multiple nieces and nephews and many special people who knew her as "Meme". She will be greatly missed.
SERVICES: A private service will be held at this time with a celebration of her life to be held at a later date.
