Lena B. "Lee" Campbell

Hooksett

Lena ”Lee” (Belisle) Campbell passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025 in Concord after a brief period of declining health.

A lifelong resident of Hooksett, Lee was born luly 20, 1936 to Napoleon Belisle, Jr. and Auree (Abel) Belisle. She graduated as a member of the National Honor Society from Manchester High School Central in 1954.

At a time when enrollment in college was not routine for women, Lee entered the workforce as a secretary at Concord Hospital until the early 1960's when she became employed at the NH Supreme Court as a legal secretary for Chief Justice Frank Kenison. By the end of the 1960's, she had followed her artistic inclinations and became a licensed beautician, operating her own beauty studio in Hooksett (The Magic Mirror), a profession she truly loved for nearly 50 years before retiring.

In 1955, Lee married Rudolph “Rudi” Campbell, and they remained married until his death in 1996. Throughout the 1960's, Rudi and Lee were both active racers and members in the Sports Car Club of NH, and the Sports Car Club of America. The racing life was also enjoyed by their young son, Mark. Rudi and Lee designed and physically built their own home in Hooksett where she lived until her death.

Lee was very active in community matters, was a member of the Hooksett Garden Club, and also performed and sang with the Hooksett Entertainers. She was dedicated to landscaping and gardening around her home, and traveled to New Zealand and Australia with her husband.

Lee was a born entertainer and never lacked for stories of her exploits. She immediately lit up every room she entered, and her enthusiasm for life will be missed by all who knew her. 

Lee is survived by her son, Mark, and his partner Mary Duval, of Hooksett, NH; Mary's children Matt and his wife Kai, of Mesa, Arizona; and Allison Duval and her companion, Kevin Campbell, of Rochester, NH. She is also survived by her sisters, Lilian Parenteau of Manchester, NH; Yvonne (John) Beaney, of Chester, NH; and her brother Roger (Claire) Belisle, of Hooksett, NH; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews. and their children.

She was predeceased by her brothers Victor, Andre, and Leo, and sisters, Dorothy Dobrowski and lrene Gravel.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, February 5th from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm in Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St, Manchester.
