Leo R. Dutton, 81, of Manchester, died on Tuesday September 18, 2018 surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
Born in Nashua on March 10, 1937, he was the son of Leon and Lena (Provost) Dutton and was one of 7 children. He grew up in Nashua, graduating from Nashua High School in 1955. After High School he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving a tour of duty in Germany during the Berlin wall crisis. He was honorably discharged in 1959.
In May 1962, he married Louise (Dallaire) Dutton in Lincoln and they were happily married for 56 years. They lived in Manchester and together raised 3 children and enjoyed spending time with them and participating in their activities.
He had been employed as a linotype operator with Lew Cummings Printing Company for 20 years and an LSM operator with the US Postal Service for 20 years.
He loved sports. Growing up he played softball in the ward leagues in Nashua. He coached Little League baseball and youth basketball. Later in life, he played tennis with his co-workers. He loved music, singing, "Whistling while he worked" and playing his guitar. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing and he and his wife spent many evenings at the Rockingham Ballroom.
Above all else, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be greatly missed. Leo will be remembered for his kind ways and gentle soul.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Richard Dutton and his wife Judith, brother Lawrence Dutton, sister Dolores Berube and her husband Omer, and brother-in-law Nick Psilopoulos.
He is survived by his wife Louise; his sons Scott Dutton and his wife Gloria of Pembroke, Kevin Dutton and his wife Martha of San Marcos, CA; his daughter Julie Dutton-Logie and her husband Stewart of Campbell, CA; four grandchildren Andrew, Heather, Thea, and Nina; his siblings Roland Dutton and his wife Betty of Nashua, Eunice Psilopoulos of Manchester, and Ellen Clement and her husband Bruce of Westmoreland; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral ceremony was held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester. Private burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Lincoln, NH.
