Leo R. Larochelle, 66, of Manchester, died August 12, 2006 at the Catholic Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Manchester on August 29, 1939, the son of Joseph and Cecile (Soucy) Larochelle. He attended St. Anthony High School and received his associate's degree from Hesser Business College. He served in the US Coast Guard.
He had been most recently employed as New Hampshire's first appointed Chief Plumbing Inspector. Prior to that, he had worked as the Plumbing Inspector for the City of Manchester and had also owned and operated his own plumbing business.
A very humble man, Mr. Larochelle was active within and contributed to his community in a variety of ways. He was an Eagle Scout and Scout Master for the Boy Scouts for numerous troops in the Manchester area. He was also active in the Catholic War Veterans, CYO, taught CCD, and served on various parish councils in the city. He volunteered for local baseball and softball leagues and was an accomplished accordion player and music teacher. He was a member of the Richelieu Club and a member of both the national and international chapters of B.O.C.A. He was past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus #5748, Marion Council, and was current financial secretary for the Knights of Columbus State Chapter. Mr. Larochelle also was a Fourth degree Knight of the Bishop Bradley Assembly #0626.
Members of his family include his wife of 32 years, Celine (Chouinard) Larochelle of Manchester; two sons, Ronald and Joel Larochelle, both of Manchester; four daughters, Diane Larochelle of Manchester, Julie Antis of Johnstown, NY, Denise Lessard of Sanbornton, and Nicole Larochelle of Manchester; four grandchildren, Nathan, Evan, Noah, and Sarah; one brother, Julien Larochelle of Manchester; one sister, Sr. Lucille Larochelle of Tewksbury, MA; nephews, nieces, and cousins; he is also survived by his extended family, the Paquettes, who were a very important part of his life.
Mr. Larochelle was predeceased by his first wife, Ann (Paquette) Larochelle in 1974 and two brothers, Albert and Hector Larochelle.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Catherine Church on Wednesday August 16, 2006. Encryptment followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd, Manchester.
