Leonard Frank Labrie, 94, passed peacefully into eternal rest on June 27, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones at Community Hospice House in Merrimack. A lifelong resident of West Manchester, New Hampshire, “Lenny” was born on October 18, 1931, to the late Amedee and Elumina (Letendre) Labrie at Notre Dame Hospital. He delighted in sharing the remarkably modest cost of his birth—a story he told with a smile throughout his life.
A 1949 graduate of Manchester High School West, Lenny earned an engineering degree from Wentworth Institute in Boston in 1952. He then served his country as a corporal in the United States Army, stationed in Germany from 1952 to 1954. He held his education and military service in high regard, often reminiscing about what he fondly called “the good old days.”
Lenny’s greatest joys in life were his family, an honest day’s work, and his steadfast devotion to the Lord. Upon returning from Europe, he married his sweetheart, Claire Lemire, in 1954, and together they raised four children. He built a successful career as a local contractor and enjoyed pointing out the many buildings constructed under his guidance. He held a deep attachment to the West Side home he purchased in 1956, where he lived the remainder of his life
One of Lenny's greatest accomplishments was the cabin he built by hand in Colebrook, NH. Claire and Lenny named this special retreat “Beau Séjour,” where they gathered family to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of northern New Hampshire.
Lenny was predeceased by his beloved wife of 38 years: Claire; his dear friend: Doris Golej; his great-grandson: Theodore Kammer; his brother: Theodore Labrie; his sister: Arline Labrie; and his parents.
He is lovingly survived by his four children: Peter Labrie, Gisele (Michael) Kammer, both of Manchester, Maureen (Russ Hawkins) Labrie of Lancaster, and Kenneth (Arianne Martin) Labrie of Hooksett.
He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Justin (Diego) Kammer and Christian (Lianne Kelley) Kammer, both of Boston, Stefan Kammer, Claire (Michael Prisco) Kammer, both of Manchester, Corey Hudon of Derby, Vermont, Kaitlyn Hudon of Lancaster, Colby Couture of Hopkinton, Bailey Couture of Jefferson, and Devon Kammer of Manchester, who helped support his care in his later years, guided by the devoted and loving presence of his daughter, Gisele, who cared for him tirelessly over the past six years.
Lenny is further survived by his two great-grandchildren: Layla and Luca Kammer; his special nieces: Arlene and Monica Labrie; and his good friend: Chuck Dreyer.
SERVICES: Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St. in Manchester from 5pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Ste. Marie Parish, 378 Notre Dame Ave. in Manchester at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Franco-American Centre (FACNH), 100 Saint Anselm Drive #1798, Manchester, NH 03102, honoring Lenny’s deep connection to his Québécois heritage.
