Leonard P. Plante

Leonard Paul Plante of 80 Dunbarton Road, Manchester, NH passed away on December 31, 2010 at the Concord Hospice House following a long battle with bile duct cancer. He was 72.

Leonard was born Oct. 5, 1938 in Manchester to Gabrielle (Viviers) Plante and Robert Eugene Plante Sr. He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School in 1956 and married Monique Blais in 1959. Together, they had three children.

During his working years, Leonard owned and operated two canteen trucks, spent several years at Prevue Products Inc., which manufactured boots, and ended at Frito Lay, where he worked from 1990 to 2006.

Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling and was an avid Fantasy Baseball and Fantasy Football player. He was a devout Catholic and a long-time supporter of the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging.

He is survived by his daughter Janice Plante and son-in-law Dr. Rodman "Rocket" Getchell, son Dr. Daniel Plante and daughter-in-law Dr. Ranjini Thaver, and son Steve Plante and daughter-in-law Brenda Plante, as well as four grandchildren, Anicka Plante, Devon Plante, Vishnu Thaver, and Amanda Plante.

Three siblings also survive him: Robert Plante Jr. (and Madeline); Charles Plante (and Nancy); and Jeannine Bruneau.

A committal service was held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Road.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made "in memory of Leonard Plante" to the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging at P.O. Box 805105, Kansas City, MO 64180 or to the CRVNA Hospice House, 240 Pleasant Street, Concord, NH 03301.
