Leone R. (Landry) Genest, 97, of Manchester, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2018 at CMC following a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Leone was born in Gillsum on January 6, 1921, the daughter of Alphonse and Regina (Barriault) Landry. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Leone worked in the shoe manufacturing industry. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Parish, and a member of the CWV Auxillary Unit 1624. She enjoyed traveling with her good friend, Mrs. Rollande Lacroix. Leone liked to crochet, read, and play cards at the William Cashin Senior Center, and she always had a smile for everyone. Her family will miss her good cooking, especially her homemade donuts and penuche fudge.
Leone was predeceased by her husband Gaston P. "Gus" Genest in 1994.
She leaves behind four children, Constance Steiner and husband Gregory of Goffstown, Marie Jeanne Carbonneau and husband Ronald of Manchester, Norman Genest of Manchester, and Lorraine Goudreau and husband Bernard of Manchester; seven grandchildren, Suzanne, Stephen, Patricia, Marc, Celeste, Renee, and Erica; seven great grandchildren, Timothy, Sean, Brett, Sophie, Chase, Aiden, and Hailee. She was also predeceased by her seven brothers, Lionel, Roland, Conrad, O'Neil, Gerald, George and Noel.
Leone will forever be in our hearts.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Sacred Heart Church, 265 S. Main St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed in the mausoleum, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations in Leone's memory may be made to: American Heart Association, 2 Wall St., Suite 104, Manchester, NH 03101.
