Leonide J.P. Desindes, 74, of Manchester, died May 8, 2002, at a Concord health care facility, after a lengthy illness.
Born September 1, 1927 in St. Isidore d'Oakland, Quebec, he was the son of Eldege and Anna (Thivierge) Desindes. He had been a Manchester resident since 1963.
Mr. Desindes worked as a lumberjack in Canada, and as a woodworker for Lorden Lumber Co. in Milford. He later owned and operated D & D Construction Co. in Manchester until 1976.
He played the violin and the guitar and was an avid card player.
He enjoyed his family, music and friends.
He was predeceased by two sons, Joseph and Daniel Desindes, who died together in a car accident in 1999.
Family members include his wife of 50 years, Yvette C. (Turcotte) Desindes of Manchester; 2 daughters, Mrs. Evan (Francine) Marcoux of Concord, and Mrs. Leo (Lisa) Poirier of Candia; a son, Ivan Desindes of Gadsden, Alabama; 16 grandchildren; one great grandchild; many nieces, nephewsand cousins.
Services were private. Burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, is in charge of arrangements.
