Lester Albert Wood

Lester Albert Wood, age 81, a US Navy Veteran, of Hooksett, formerly of Fall River MA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 17, 2026, following a period of declining health. For 47 years he was the beloved husband of Lila (Reid) Wood. 

He was born November 30, 1944 in Fall River, MA to the late Lester Wood & Charlotte (Swistak) Swanson.

Les grew up in Fall River, MA where he entered and served for 8 years in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He served as an Aviation Electronics Technician, Petty Officer 1st Class until his Honorable Discharge in 1971. Among his assignments, he was stationed at McMurdo Station in Antarctica for some time. 

Prior to his retirement, he worked as a Computer Engineer for Honeywell-Bull for nearly 15 years. Previously he worked at I.B.M.. 

Les enjoyed fishing, and was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and NE Patriots. Above all, his grandchildren meant the world to him. 

Besides his wife, Lila, he is survived by his daughter, Marcell Cruz and her Fiance, Mark Carter, of Manchester; a son and daughter-in-law, Marc & Jackie Wood of Framingham, MA; four grandchildren, Janai Cruz (who was very special to Les) Fausto Cruz, Jr., Ariel Cruz, and Marcell Wood; also four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Fausto Cruz (Dec. 2007), and stepsister Joan Dziekan.

SERVICES – At his request, there will be no calling hours or service. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
