Lionel J. Labbe "Flash"

Lionel Joseph Labbe, “Flash”, 96, of Manchester, died on June 27, 2025, in Bel Air, Maryland surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Manchester on May 7, 1929, he was the son of the late Isadore and Yvonne (Nault) Labbe.

Flash joined the Navy in World War II and served in the South Pacific Theater-China and Japan. Flash was a second class petty officer aboard the USS Astonia. He was discharged in 1950 but was then recalled for the Korean War. He was honorably discharged, after serving for eight years, in 1954. He then moved to Baltimore, MD and worked for many years as a food service manager and stock manager for Ryomation, inc.

Flash was an avid ballroom and mamba dancer, competing and showcasing in New England. He was also a boxer in the Navy and in New Jersey. Flash married his wife Georgia, of Baltimore, MD, and together raised three children.

Flash was predeceased by his beloved ex-wife, Georgia (McElwee) Labbe in 2001; son Lionel Labbe Jr. in 2015; daughter Stephanie Passauer in 2022; and granddaughter Kristin Passauer in 2010.

Surviving family members include one daughter, Danielle Labbe of MD; two grandchildren Samantha and Zachary Labbe; three great grandchildren Gavin, Kennedy, and Adley; nieces Resa Labbe Lundkvist, Joni Labbe Castrogiovanni, Kimberley Labbe Griswold of Manchester who have helped Flash immensely over the years, Deborah Karam Florek of Arizonia, Melissa Karam of San Francisco, CA and Michele Karam McIntyre of Manchester; and nephew Phillip Fortin of Glen Burnie,

He was predeceased by two sisters Pauline Fortin and Doris Karam; and two brothers Roland and Maurice Labbe; and nephew Kenneth Karam

SERVICES: A calling hour will take place from 11am to 12pm on Thursday August 14, at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester NH, 03104. A graveside service will follow at 1pm at NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 DW Highway, Rt. 3, Boscawen NH.
