Lorraine Ann Demers, affectionately known as “Ranny,” passed away peacefully at the age of 98 on April 15, 2026. Her life was a beautiful journey filled with joy and love. Born on December 4, 1927, in Manchester, New Hampshire, Lorraine was the daughter of Agnes Bridgett (Conway) Montplaisir and John Henry Montplaisir.
Lorraine’s career took off at the New England Telephone Company, where she dedicated 40 years to various roles, including Operator, Directory Assistance, and Accounting. She was a proud graduate of Manchester Central High School and a devoted member of St. Catherine’s Church in Manchester, New Hampshire.
After retiring, Lorraine embarked on an exciting adventure, traveling with her husband across Europe, Canada, Hawaii, and spending many winters in the warm sun of Lido Beach in Sarasota, Florida. Her post-retirement job as a sales associate at Bellman’s Jewelers in Manchester brought her immense happiness, as did her participation in the Senior walks sponsored by the Manchester Police Department.
Lorraine’s love for her family was unwavering, and she held her grandchildren in her heart with special affection. She found joy in the simple pleasures of cooking, baking, walking, crafting, gardening, marking every special occasion with a greeting card, yard sales, and of course, snuggling with her furry friends. Neighbors could always count on a warm and friendly chat with Lorraine while she worked in her yard.
Lorraine’s infectious smile, sense of humor, and unwavering spirit will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was preceded by her devoted husband of 65 years, Gerard A. Demers.
Her family includes three children, Diane LaRose and her husband, Chris, from Boscawen, NH; Doreen Lewis and her husband, Peter, from York, ME; and Dan Demers and his wife, Jennifer, from Virginia Beach, VA. She also has four grandchildren: Alexandria (Lewis) Ruger and her husband, Tyler Ruger; Tyler Lewis; Colin Demers; and Kyle Demers. There are also several nieces and nephews.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to all the wonderful caregivers at Amedisys At-Home Care who supported Lorriane through the end of her journey to live safely, happily, and with dignity at home.
Lorriane’s funeral will be held at Lambert Funeral Home in Manchester. Calling hours will be from 11:00 to 12:00 on Thursday, April 23, 2026, followed by a memorial service from 12:00 to 1:00. Committal prayers will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at 1:00, and then there will be a luncheon at the Hill Bar and Grille located at McIntyre Ski Area in Manchester, NH, from 2:00 to 4:00. All family and friends are welcome to attend.
