Lorraine T. Fortin, 92, of Manchester, died October 14, 2025 at Elliot Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born in Manchester, N.H. on March 4, 1933, Lorraine was the eldest daughter of Oscar and Jeannette (Therien) Martin. She was a graduate of Hesser Business College and worked as a private secretary for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Co. for many years until she married and started raising a family.
Lorraine was a den mother for Cub Scouts, a Eucharistic minister and at different times President and Spiritual Treasurer of St. Anne’s Sodality at St. Anthony of Padua Church.
Lorraine enjoyed camping, mountain climbing, ballroom and square dancing, card games, and family trips throughout the US, Canada, Europe, and Asia. She was a model of patience, thoughtfulness, and caring. Above all else, Lorraine will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Family includes her sons Marc Fortin of Manchester, Eric Fortin and wife Hiromi of Japan, and Carl Fortin and wife Elizabeth of Houston, Texas, and two grandchildren Ashley and Noah Fortin of Houston.
She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers Maurice and Leonard Martin, and her husband Conrad M. Fortin. She leaves one sister, Irene Labrie, and several nephews and nieces.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday October 23 from 5 to 7 pm in the Lambert Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, NH. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday October 24 at 10:00 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester, NH. Burial will follow in St. Augustin Cemetery, 383 Beech St., Manchester, NH.
