He was born in New York City on May 16, 1922, the son of Vincent and Isola (Napoli) Coli. He was educated in the NYC school system and attended New York University. He resided in New York City and Mattituck, New York until he moved to Manchester in 1997. He was currently living in the Bedford Falls Senior Living Community.
During WWII, he served in the US Army.
Prior to retirement, he had been employed as an air conditioning engineer with Standard Electro Therm in NYC.
Louis enjoyed gardening, listening to Italian music and socializing with friends. Above all else, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who cherished time spent with family.
He was predeceased by his wife Amelia (Giorgi) Coli in 1990 and his great grandson Ryan Michael Nicholas in 2011.
Family members include his daughter Denise Nicholas and her husband Mark of Manchester; his grandsons, Michael Nicholas and wife Kirsten Emery Nicholas of Jefferson Hills, PA, Jeffrey Nicholas and his wife Carol of Manchester, John Nicholas of Manchester; his granddaughter, Amy Nicholas-Hwang and her husband George Hwang of Arlington, VA; his great-grandchildren, Samantha Nicholas and Aaron Nicholas; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A memorial service was held on Friday, June 14, 2013 in the chapel at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St. Urn burial will be in St. Raymond Cemetery, Bronx, NY at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one's choice.
