Louis Joseph Comeau III (Joe), 66, a resident of Bedford for 38 years, died peacefully on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Newark, New Jersey, Joe was the first of 10 children born to Louis J. Comeau, Jr. and Virginia A. Comeau. The Comeau family moved to Hilltop Farm in New Boston, NH in 1968. Joe attended St. John the Baptist Elementary School and graduated from Trinity High School. Joe attended Georgetown University in 1973, where he met his wife and best friend, Katie Sibley. They were married in 1977 following graduation.
Joe went on to attend Boston University Law School, where he earned his law degree before taking a position as a tax associate at Arthur Andersen LLP. He became a partner in their tax practice in 1991, specializing in private client services. Joe worked at Arthur Andersen through 2002, then became a founding partner of Wealth and Tax Advisory Services, which later became Andersen. Joe was managing director of the Andersen Boston office from 2002 to 2017.
Joe was a devoted husband, loving father to his six children, and proud grandfather to his 14 grandchildren. Family and faith were the central pillars of his life. He enjoyed woodworking, all things DIY, photography, cooking, travel and technology. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Family vacations to Disney and Kiawah Island and holidays and family dinners around the kitchen table were some of his favorite moments, where he imparted his humor and wisdom at every opportunity.
Joe was passionate about his work, dedicated to his clients, partners, and co-workers and was always available. He often said, "If you love what you do, you never work a day in your life."
Joe will be greatly missed by his devoted and loving wife of 44 years, Kate; his six children, Mary Kate Jamen (Jon), Louis Joseph Comeau IV (Chryssanthy), Michael Comeau (Kelley), Genevieve Williamson (Lucas), Brigette Botto (Nick), and Courtney Comeau; his fourteen grandchildren; his mother, Virginia Comeau; his surviving brothers and sisters; relatives; and friends.
SERVICES: Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, May 5, at 11:00am at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Road, Bedford, NH 03110.
The family would like to thank Joe's entire treatment team at Massachusetts General Hospital. Especially Dr. Lipika Goyal, MD and Caroline Kuhlman, NP, who provided world-class care and compassion and—more importantly—gave him hope throughout his battle.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to MGH Cancer Center, c/o Dr. Lipika Goyal at giving.massgeneral.org/donate
