LT. COL. ROLAND H. BRETON

Lt. Col. Roland H. Breton, 84, of Hooksett died October 20, 2001 in his residence after a long illness.

Born in Manchester on March 10, 1917, he was the son of Leo J. and Philomene (Tremblay) Breton. He lived most of his life in Manchester and Hooksett. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Manchester.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army and was involved with military intelligence. He attended many military schools. He later served in the Air National Guard as a squadron commander.

Lt. Col. Breton worked as a building contractor for many years. He owned Roland H. Breton Construction Company in Manchester. He was the builder and original owner of Northwood Nursing Home in Manchester.

He was a former president of the Lions Club and the National Guard Association, and was a former commander of the American Legion Post 79.

He was one of the founders of the New Hampshire Home Builders Association of Manchester and was a member of the New Hampshire Appraiser Association. He was also a member of the Air Reserve Association and the American Association of Retired Persons.

The family includes his wife of 59 years, Agnes G. (Tremblay) Breton of Hooksett; two daughters, Helen A. Manseau and Constance B. Richards both of Bedford; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

There were no calling hours. A memorial mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday November 3, 2001 in St. Anselm Abbey College Church on the campus of St. Anselm College, Manchester. A committal service followed in Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester. Burial of cremated remains was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
