He was born in Manchester on March 24, 1935 to Ronaldo and Yvonne (Marcotte) Champagne. He was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
He served his country for 32 years in the U.S. Air Force, including during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Berlin Airlift.
Prior to his retirement in 1997, he worked for J.F. McElwain Shoe Company, Harvey Construction and the City of Manchester Highway Department.
He was a member of the League of 1000 Men of the Precious Blood.
Lucien enjoyed spending time in his woodworking shop, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
The family includes his wife of 58 years, Claire (Vaillancourt) Champagne of Manchester; two children, Michael L. Champagne and his wife, Laureen, of Bedford and Lucille Poulin of Manchester; three grandchildren, Christopher Champagne, Adam Desrochers and Jessica (Champagne) Boisvert; six great grandchildren; three siblings, Claire Duclos of Manchester, Arthur Champagne and his wife, Vickie, of Pembroke and Donald Champagne of Myrtle Beach, SC.
He was predeceased by three siblings, Emery Champagne, Maurice Champagne and Lorraine Armstrong.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, March 16, 2015 at St. Anthony Church, 172 Belmont St., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Mausoleum, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
