Lucien E. Gagne

Lucien Gagne passed away after a period of declining health on November 30th, surrounded by his loving wife Muriel and family.

 Born in Manchester. N.H. on August 30, 1936,  he was the son of Romeo and Marie-Ange (Belanger) Gagne. 

Lucien grew up on the West side of Manchester and was a graduate of St. Marie High School and the University of New Hampshire, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1957 he married the love of his life, Muriel (Pinard).  He worked at Sanders Associates for 26 years, rising to Director of the Ocean Technology group.

After five years at Hazeltine Corporation in Massachusetts, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio becoming President and Chief Operating Officer of Marine Mechanical Corporation (MMC). Lucien completed his affiliation with MMC as Chairman of the Board of Directors in the early 2000s. He was a lifetime member of IEEE and the Navy League.

 

Following retirement, Lou and Muriel enjoyed time in Moultonborough, NH and Jupiter, Florida. Many wonderful memories were made and beyond his faith in God, his wife and family were always foremost in Lucien’s heart.

He was a devout Roman Catholic, serving as a board member of West Side Regional School, Trinity High School, and the Diocesan School Board during his time in Manchester.

He coached for Manchester Regional Youth Hockey Association (MRYHA) for 15 years and umpired for the West Side Little League. He served in the N.H. Air National Guard for 8 years.

 

Passing on the day of their 65th wedding anniversary, Lucien is survived by his wife Muriel, four sons: Charles and his wife Janice, Thomas and his wife Wendy, James and his wife Monique, Jeffrey and his wife Kami.  10 grandchildren:  Alyssa, Kristina, Renee Deines and her husband Michael, Thomas Jr, Timothy, Nicholas, Andrew, Matthew and his wife Jennifer, Jordan and Chase and one great-granddaughter Charlotte.   He is also survived by four sisters: Simone Belliveau, Terrie Weintraub, Constance Ruel, and Lori Schaefer and previously deceased by his sister Claire Simard.  

Special thanks to the staff at Riverwoods Manchester and Amedisys Hospice for their love and support.

Calling hours are Tuesday December 6 from 4-7 pm at Lambert Funeral Home and Crematory, 1799 Elm Street, Manchester, N.H. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday December 7 at 10am, at Ste. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Avenue, Manchester N.H. with interment at Mt Calvary Cemetery immediately following.
