She was born in New Bedford, MA on September 19, 1911 to Napoleon and Victoria (Guimond) Champagne. She entered the congregation of the Sisters of Holy Cross in 1931 and made her final profession in 1938. She served the congregation for 79 years.
Sr. Lucille earned a bachelor's degree from Rivier College in Nashua and a master's degree from St. Michael's College in Winooski, VT.
She taught at parochial elementary and high schools in North Grosvenordale, CT. She also served as principal of St. Louis de Gonzague High School in Nashua, Holy Rosary High School in Rochester and St. Anthony High School in New Bedford, MA. In addition, she was a professor at Notre Dame College in Manchester for 27 years.
In retirement, she had been in Franklin and Lynwood Lane Convent in Manchester, each for four years, and St. George Residence and Holy Cross Health Center, both in Manchester.
Sr. Lucille will be remembered as an outstanding educator.
The family includes a sister, Simonne Poulin and several nephews and nieces.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 in the chapel at St. George Manor, 357 Island Pond Rd., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at St. Augustin Cemetery, South Beech St., Manchester.
